It's a family photo, and an old one at that.
From their elaborate attire, it seems like they were high caste aristocrats, not that anyone is
around to care about that stuff anymore. This family was also very small – containing only
two children – but this was common among the higher castes, who usually forwent typical
creche systems.
More interesting however, is the scenery. The photo was taken not too far from here! Rather than
the industrial landscape you inhabit today, this area was once renowned for its lakes, plant life, and
rock formations. The rich nature and plentiful water made it a common spot for all sorts of
travellers and pilgrims - but also the perfect location for the construction of an iterator.
My construction brought with it a whole host of necessary infrastructure. By the time I was finished,
the natural beauty of the area was nothing but a memory. I often feel remorseful of this... we were
meant to be a gift to the world, but our very construction required bringing it to ruin!
And yet, the circumstances of existence are often out of our control, aren't they?
We can't regret the things we don't get to decide.
Wouldn't you agree, little creature?
