Its a genome for a purposed organism meant for translating thoughts into text.
It’s made from a thin bio-luminescent membrane, and is able to conjoin with others if connected to the thoughts of someone else.
The concept itself is not new, the holographic versions were used even in the newest iterator models, but they were experimenting with these new biological versions as planning for a more, “integrated” iterator.
Of course, the global ascension made it so that it never came to fruition, so I suppose they just float aimlessly in those labs.
